Black and Hot Pink Room Design

This post is all about my black & hot pink room design.

My daughter is obsessed with black & hot pink right now, and she 100% approved of this room design. She was leaning over my shoulder the entire time I was designing it, asking if I could get “it” for her. I’ll have to save this one for whenever we decide to redo her room.

Her (and my) favorite parts about this design are the pink and black polka dot cabinet and the hot pink sofa. They really make the room special. This is a fun one for tween & teenage girl rooms, or even a studio apartment space.

Shop the Look Room Design

These dramatic black stems are perfect in the pink vase and add height and texture to the corner of the room. It is such an easy way to bring in a little drama without adding more furniture.

This fluted black dresser brings serious storage and a sculptural element to the room. I love how its vertical lines add a little visual interest against all the softer, rounder shapes nearby.

The light neutral bedding is the calm, neutral moment the room needed. It lets the black feel elegant instead of heavy, and gives your eye somewhere to rest.

This small framed piece with its pink gingham pattern is such a sweet detail on top of the dresser. It adds pattern without competing with the polka dots across the room.

This sofa is the boldest piece in the room, and I am obsessed with it. The tufted hot pink upholstery paired with black throw pillows is exactly the kind of unexpected, glam statement piece I love building a room around.

This hot pink vase goes perfectly in the corner of the room or on top of the dresser.

A decorative bundle of books on the nightstand is such an easy way to add height and color in a small footprint. It is a tiny detail, but it ties right into the palette. These are also great to add height to other decor pieces. Grab a few of them and lay them sideways, and place a small decor piece on top.

This cabinet is SO cute! The polka dot pattern is playful without being childish, and the gold legs add just enough glam.

This little sculptural dog figurine is such a fun, unexpected accessory. It adds a playful, almost pop-art moment that keeps the room from feeling too serious.

These small heart-shaped decor pieces are scattered around the room, and they are pure fun. They are the kind of detail that makes a space feel personal and a little playful.

These matching lamps with their soft pink bases and cream shades show up on both the nightstand and the dresser, and I love a little repetition like that. They keep the lighting warm and cohesive across the room.

This pair of blush and pink textured abstract prints hangs above the bed and softens the whole space. They bring in movement and color without pulling focus from the furniture.

This upholstered black bed is a hydraulic lift-up bed frame, with a ton of extra hidden storage!

These floor-length black curtains frame the window and instantly give the room that moody, dramatic backdrop I was going for. They also block out light beautifully, which makes them as practical as they are pretty.

This checkered blush rug grounds the whole room. Its subtle pattern brings texture without introducing a whole new color.
