This post is all about my boho contemporary living room idea! I centered this living room design around a grey, beige, and black color palette. In this post, I will review some tips for designing a living room with a boho contemporary style. Then, I will talk about each element in this living room and provide the links so that you can shop the look!
Tips for Designing a Boho Contemporary Living Room
When crafting a boho contemporary living room, you’re basically mixing the funky, eclectic vibe of bohemian décor with the sleek, modern feel of contemporary design. It’s all about creating a cozy yet stylish space with a good mix of textures and patterns.
Think about throwing in some soft Moroccan rugs, textured cushions, and maybe a fluffy throw or two alongside some slick leather or velvet furniture. Patterns are your friend here—don’t be shy about mixing them up!
Add some leafy greens to bring in a bit of nature, and try to balance out vintage finds with newer pieces for that perfect curated look. Make sure you have plenty of comfy seating around a central point, like a fireplace or a big coffee table.
And while boho style tends to go all out with textures and patterns, you might want to dial it back a bit with a more neutral base and then throw in some bold accents here and there. Don’t forget to show off your style with unique art pieces and mementos that mean something to you. The key is to make the space feel lived-in and inviting while still keeping it stylish and on-trend.

Boho Contemporary Furniture
First, let’s dive into the furniture that makes up the backbone of this living room design.
Grey Sectional Sofa

Natural Rattan Media Console
When I saw this rattan media console, I swooned. It’s such a great piece of furniture that you can use it with a TV or hang a large wall decor piece over it and add some cute table decor pieces.
Pedestal Wood End Table
End tables are super handy to have next to living room seating. Set down your drink and snack while you enjoy a movie or hang out with friends and family.
Upholstered Pouf
I love ottoman poufs because they can be used with a decorative tray and function as a small coffee table, or they can be used as additional seating when you have guests over.
Decorative Vases and Plants
Next, let’s discuss some fine details, including decorative vases and plants.
Decorative Vases
This set of four black ceramic vases adds a moody feel to the room. They would look great on their own, or you can put small dried flowers or leaf stems in them.
This rustic flower vase is such a great find. I love its textured look. You can put a larger bouquet of flowers or stems in it and use it as more of a focal point.
Artificial Eucalyptus Tree
I’m a sucker for a good eucalyptus tree. This tree is four feet and can be placed in a decorative pot on the floor or you can get a small plant stool to elevate it a bit.
Boho Contemporary Lighting
The key to a cozy and inviting room is incorporating different lighting sources. Here is the lighting that I chose for this living room!
Black Rattan Floor Lamp
Isn’t this rattan floor lamp amazing?! I love that it matches the black and rattan mirrors that I chose as wall decor above the couch.
Industrial Table Lamps
These black table lamps can be used either on the media console or on the end tables. The USB charging ports are a major plus!
Black Wall Sconce
I used to be afraid to use wall sconces because no one wants to commit to drilling holes and routing electrical wires just to hang a few lights. That was until I saw the best hack – use battery-powered lightbulbs. This way, you don’t have to deal with any wires or electrical. Just hang the sconces and screw in the battery-powered light bulbs.
Boho Contemporary Wall Decor
My favorite part of decorating a room is choosing the wall decor. These are some really unique and fun pieces!
Boho Abstract Wall Decor
When I envision boho contemporary, this abstract metal wall decor is exactly what I envision! It reminds me of the boho wall baskets, which are a popular boho wall decor pick, but with a contemporary twist.
Boho Rattan Wall Mirror
If you haven’t already noticed, I am a big fan of rattan. This mirror was a no-brainer to me.
Carved Leaf Wall Decor
This gray wood-carved leaf wall decor set is the last wall decor piece. The leaf pattern incorporates the boho style, while the clean lines and modern look give it a contemporary feel.
Living Room Textiles
Last up is the living room textiles that I chose for this living room. Textiles are a great way to incorporate different textures to a room and add depth.
Tan Curtains
These tan curtains are a versatile choice and can be used in a variety of room styles.
Decorative Pillows
This living room design has hints of black throughout, and I wanted to emphasize the black a bit more, which is why I chose these black throw pillows for the couch.
Light Gray Area Rug
Lastly, we have this light gray area rug. It has a minimalist pattern to maintain a clean aesthetic in the room and keep the attention on the other boho contemporary decor elements.
