This post is all about my blue and grey nursery design idea featuring a grey crib and dresser, a leather rocking chair, and toy storage ideas.
Are you getting ready to welcome a little one into the world? It is such an exciting time in your life. There is so much to get ready, so much to plan for, and so much to think about.
I’m here to try and take some of the planning off of your plate. I create free nurseryย mood boards so that you can have your dream nursery, without having to try and mix and match, and come up with something that looks good together.
I put all of the pieces together on the screen so that you can visualize what the room will look like. If you like this boys room nursery design, you can shop the look using the links in this blog post, or simply use it as inspiration in your nursery setup. Not feeling this design? Grey Convertible Crib
Without further ado, let’s dive in. This nursery idea is built around a set of matching grey nursery furniture including a crib, dresser/changing table, toy storage organizer, and bookshelf.
The crib is aย JPMA-certified Delta Children emery 4-in-1 convertible baby crib.ย The crib converts from a crib to a toddler bed, a daybed, and aย full-size bed with a headboard.
This crib is the perfect pick to grow with your baby. There are 3 mattress height adjustments, allowing you to lower the mattress as your baby grows and develops.ย
Grey Baby Dresser with Changing Top
Next, we have a matching grey Delta Children Lancasterย 3-drawer dresser with a changing top. Something that I realized when decorating my nursery is that the nursery room space gets filled up fast with everything for the baby.
Any space-saving furniture is an absolute dream. I love that this combines the changing station with the dresser to save space.
Plus, it is so handy to have extra storage right next to the changing station to keep extra diapers and wipes. The last thing you want to do mid-change is run out of wipes and have to carry a poopy baby around looking for a new package of wipes.
Once your baby no longer needs to be changed, you can remove the changing topper. The drawers on this dresser have metal drawer guides with safety stops, to help prevent a child from pulling the drawers out.
Blue and Grey Toy Storage
Sooner than you can imagine, your house will be overflowing with kids toys. I think the thing my daughter loves the most about toys is taking them out of containers and placing them ALL over the floor.
It’s like she is creating a veryย well-thought-out obstacle course of toys. But hey, if it keeps her entertained while I work then I am happy to endlessly put toys in bins so that she can immediately re-scatter them.
We have one of these toy storage organizers for her toys. I love that the bins are removable so that instead of picking a handful of toys up at a time, I can grab a bin and walk around the house putting toys into it.
My daughter loves it because she can easily see all of her toys, and no toy gets pushed to the back or hidden.
Baby Bookcase
In keeping with the navy blue/grey theme, we have a matching bookshelf. This is also a favorite of my daughter’s. We’ve filled her bookshelf to the brim with her favorite books.
She loves that she has easy access to all of her books and can pick which books she wants to read at night.
Faux Leather Rocking Chair for Nursery
To add some character to the nursery, I have chosen a brown faux leather rocking chair with a high back and wood frame.
This nursing chair is stylish and functional, with a side pocket to store essentials. I think the side pocket would be perfect to keep your phone and maybe a pair of earbuds.
I can’t tell you howย often I sat down to nurse, got everything situated, FINALLY got the baby latched, and realized my phone was across the room – or lost somewhereย on the couch.
This modern rocking chair is padded with thick foam and a deep seat. The postpartum tailbone pain was no joke for me, and I truly believe that a comfortable nursing chair is well worth the investment.
Nursery Pillow
For some added comfort, or support while nursing, I added this “welcome to my crib” embroidered lumbar pillow. It fits well with this nursery decor and will be so handy to have while nursing.
Nursery Laundry Hamper
Ready or not, the blowouts andย spit-up are fast approaching. A laundry hamper for your nursery will be so handy – just toss the dirty clothes and come back to them when you have time to do a load of laundry.
A laundry basket is an easy way to help keep a room looking tidy and organized.
Geometric Area Rug
To tie the room together, I found this dark grey geometric area rug. It is designed to be soft and comfy for kids and is a great contemporary piece of decor. Having a soft spot for your baby to do some tummy time is so helpful.
Fun Nursery Accessories
I am very excited to tell you about the next part of this nursery design. A chalkboard hung on the wall, placed as low as possible.
The chalkboard is your baby’sย soon-to-be favorite place to practice tummy time and sitting up. You can get some thick magnets (the animal magnets linked below are the ones my baby loved) to put on the chalkboard.
With theย chalkboard at your baby’s level, he will be able to interact with the magnets and try to learn how to get them off, and eventually, he will learn how to put them onto the board as well.
My daughter was obsessed with herย chalkboard and magnets from the minute I set them up. At first, she could only push up on her tummy and poke at the magnets.
Around 7 months she was sitting up in front of theย chalkboard scratching at the magnets. At 9 months or so sheย could take the magnets off by herself, and around 12 months she was taking the magnets off and putting them back on.
It has been a great exercise for her fine motor skills throughout her entire first year of life. Iย do not doubt that she will continue toย loveย herย chalkboard and soon she will be old enough to use actual chalk to draw on it (hopefully not on our walls).
The last part of this nursery idea is a few nursery wall accessories. These navy blue and grey vinyl decals are a fun and easy way to add interest to your nursery walls.
Babies love staring at different colors and shapes, and I think your baby will enjoy staring at these on his wall.ย
The “where the wild ones play”, and the “little man cave” wall signs are a fun way to add some personality and warmth to the nursery. They’re sure to be a hit as your baby grows into a toddler and learns what these signs say.

Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed this nursery idea and that it gave you some nursery inspiration. I love sharing my own experiences and helping new moms pick furniture that will be practical and useful above all else.
Life can become chaotic very quickly with a newborn and it can be difficult to know what you need and what you will never end up using.
That’s why I made sure to include some of my favorites from my nursery; the things that I still use and love every day.
