Cozy Tan Transitional Home Office Design
This mood board gives warm, cozy home-office vibes with light wood pieces, rich tan accents, and pretty black-and-brass details that keep it polished (not boring).

When I put this home office mood board together, I set a simple goal: make it feel calm and pulled together, yet still super functional for real life.
I anchored everything with light wood storage (because clutter is the enemy of a peaceful workspace), then layered in warm tan seating, black accents for contrast, and a few pretty decorative pieces so it doesn’t feel like a bland “office store” setup.
In this post, I’ve included links to all the elements in the designs so that you can recreate the look in your own home. The furniture and decor in this mood board are from Wayfair. The paint colors are from Benjamin Moore.

Room Design
Choosing a paint color can be one of the most challenging aspects of designing a room. Here are four Benjamin Moore paint color options to give you an idea of how the room could look with different wall colors.
Upholstered Pouf
An ottoman is a smart addition to a home office because it provides an extra seat without taking up much visual space. It also softens all the straight lines, making the room feel cozier.
Waste Basket
I love a cute waste basket in the office. It doubles as decor!
Pencil Holder
This is one of those small details that make your desk feel styled without trying too hard. It’s practical, but still pretty enough to leave out.
Table Lamp
A little lamp is my favorite way to make a workspace feel softer and less harsh than overhead lighting all day. This one adds a warm glow and looks adorable styled on the desk.
Floor Vase Set
These vases add texture and that “finished” feeling. I like using a set because it instantly looks layered and collected.
Wall Art
This wall art set is such a great focal point for the room. It centers the space and fits perfectly between the cabinets.
Light Fixture
This light adds instant personality and makes the office feel more like part of your home instead of a forgotten back room. It mixes clean lines with a little glow—it’s a statement without being too much.
Area Rug
The rug keeps the room from feeling flat and brings in that cozy layer you want under a desk chair. It also helps all the warm tones blend together, so nothing feels random.
Office Chair
This chair adds a rich, warm color that makes the whole setup feel inviting. It’s the kind of piece that makes you actually want to sit down and get things done.
Office Desk
This desk is the perfect “main character” for the room—simple, sturdy, and easy to style. The drawers give you everyday storage, so the top can stay clean and cute.
Arched Cabinet
This cabinet is such a pretty way to hide the not-so-pretty stuff—folders, printers, kid papers, all of it. The arched top makes it feel more like furniture than office storage, which I always love.
Paint Color Matches
The Benjamin Moore paint color matches for these rooms are:
- Sheep’s Wool
- Raleigh Tan
- Warm Apple Crisp
- Sierra Spruce

Conclusion
This home office design is one of my favorites because it feels warm, organized, and still really pretty. It’s the kind of setup that helps you focus, but also makes you happy every time you walk in—because yes, your office can be functional and cute.
