This post is all about my outdoor patio design!

Relaxed Cream and Natural Outdoor Patio Design

I’ve been dreaming about the perfect outdoor living space for a while now, and this mood board is pretty much everything I’ve ever wanted on a patio.

The whole idea was to bring that calm, resort-style feel right into the backyard — somewhere you actually want to spend time, not just a place you glance at through the back door.

I kept the palette really grounded in neutrals — creamy whites, warm tans, and that gorgeous greige tone that runs through the sofa and rug. Nothing too bold, nothing too trendy, just a timeless outdoor space that feels relaxed and put together at the same time.

In this post, I’ve included links to all the elements in the designs so that you can recreate the look in your own home. The furniture and decor in this mood board are from Crate & Barrel. The paint colors are from Benjamin Moore.

Room Design

Choosing a paint color can be one of the most challenging aspects of designing a room. Here are four Benjamin Moore paint color options to give you an idea of how the room could look with different wall colors.

Outdoor Table Lamp

This small dome lamp with the warm taupe shade is such a nice addition to the side table, and it makes the space feel like you could actually use it after the sun goes down.

Blue Glass Lantern

This is the one little pop of color in an otherwise all-neutral board, and it works perfectly as a focal point on the coffee table. That soft aqua-blue glass feels beachy and fresh.

Lumbar Throw Pillow

This pillow has such a cool geometric pattern in warm brown tones that adds some visual interest to the design.

Cream Throw Pillow

You can never have enough cozy pillows in an outdoor lounge area! This pillow comes in various colors as well, if you’d like to add some color to the design.

Cantilever Patio Umbrella

This oversized offset umbrella features the most classic beige-and-cream stripe pattern, and I love how the natural wood pole warms it up. It’s the kind of thing that makes your whole patio feel intentional and provides so much shade.

Outdoor Side Table

These chunky pedestal-style side tables are SO good — that matte finish, and the slightly tapered shape make them feel really modern.

Outdoor Area Rug

This soft, sandy-beige rug anchors the seating area, and the subtle woven texture adds dimension. I love how it pulls the furniture grouping together and makes the patio feel like a real room.

Coffee Table

The warm honey tones of this slatted coffee table are so beautiful against all the creamy neutrals, and the low rectangular shape is perfect for a conversational seating setup.

Outdoor Patio Accent Chair

The natural wicker wrapped frame on these chairs adds so much texture, and the plush cream cushions make them look incredibly comfortable. They’re the perfect counterpoint to the more structured sofa — a little casual, a little coastal.

Outdoor Patio Sofa

The deep seat cushions in that creamy off-white are so inviting, and the thick, greige frame gives it a really solid, grounded look.

Decorative Vase

This wavy, textured vase is perfect for displaying some seasonal flowers or plants. You can grab a couple and place one on the side table and one on the coffee table.

Paint Color Matches

The Benjamin Moore paint color matches for these rooms are:

  • Featherstone
  • Baja Dunes
  • Morrel
  • Barnboard

Conclusion

I hope this neutral outdoor patio design gave you all the backyard inspiration you needed! There’s something about keeping the palette really calm and layering in texture instead of color that just makes an outdoor space feel so serene and intentional.

I hope these mood boards helped inspire your decorating journey and that you found something that will work well in your home. Be sure to check out my other mood boards or submit a custom room design request form!
