Charming Floral Blue College Dorm Room Idea

This post is all about my dorm room design.

When I sat down to design this dorm room, I wanted something that felt like two best friends had moved in together and actually coordinated (in the best way). This blue-and-cream floral combo works so well when you’re sharing a small space with someone else.

This is the kind of room I would have loved in college. It’s soft, it’s pretty, and it still feels put together even with two beds crammed into one space. It also works perfectly as a shared girls’ room for tweens or teens!

These two framed botanical prints in the light wood frames are what pull the whole gallery moment together above the beds. They’re simple and calming, and they echo the blue tones without competing with the busier bedding.

This cream chair is exactly what a dorm room needs for a cozy reading or scrolling-on-your-phone spot. It’s simple enough to let the floral pillows and throw really shine on top of it.

This cream checkered rug ties the whole floor plan together and adds texture. It’s the kind of rug that makes a room feel finished the second you lay it down.

I chose these cream curtains with the tiny dot pattern and ruffled edges to soften up the windows. They let in plenty of light while still feeling romantic and cottage-inspired.

I draped this chunky blue knit blanket over the chair to add texture and pull the blue tones through the whole room one more time.

This cute vintage container is perfect for storing pens, pencils, or little knick-nacks on the desk.

These lamps, with their floral shades and rattan bases, are so unique and pretty. They’re functional, but they also just look like a little piece of decor on their own.

This small vase with the pink flowers adds a soft, feminine feel to the desk vignette. It’s such a simple way to bring in a little color and life.

This blue scalloped sheet set pairs so nicely with the blue floral bedding.

These lumbar pillows with the little floral bird print are such a sweet detail on each bed and the accent chair. I love how they pick up the blues from the bedding while adding a slightly different pattern scale.

These matching blue-and-white floral bedding sets are the star of the whole room. It’s such a trending aesthetic right now.

A super quick and easy way to make a cookie-cutter dorm room stand out is to add your own headboard!

These little deep blue nightstands are honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole design. The deep navy color adds depth to the room.

This light wood desk with the little drawers gives a dedicated study spot without feeling bulky or heavy in the room. It’s simple enough to work in basically any dorm layout.

I added these little vintage-style frames on each nightstand because every dorm room needs a spot for photos of home.

I tucked these blue-and-white striped pillows onto each bed to break up all the florals just a little. They’re such an easy way to mix patterns.

One last decorative pillow to finish out the design; it goes nicely on the accent chair or beds.
