This post is all about my pink dorm room design.

Chic Pink Dorm Room Idea

When I sat down to create a mood board, this is not at all what I had planned. But when I opened Target’s website, I saw the white & pink floral reading pillow, the pink locker cabinet, and the pink plaid lamp, I immediately knew I needed to create a design around them.

Have you ever wondered what your home decor style is?

I figured they’d be perfect for a dorm room, and from there I added in some dorm room essentials like the cute scalloped desk, some extra storage, twin headboards, and adorable decorative accents. I hope you like how this one turned out as much as I do!

I’ve linked everything you see in the design below so you can shop the look and bring it to life in your own home. The furniture and decor pieces are from Target, and I’ve also paired four Benjamin Moore paint colors that work beautifully with this room β€” scroll down to the bottom to see the design with each color on the walls!

Chic Pink Dorm Room Design Idea

Area Rug

This woven rug anchors the whole room, and I love that it’s neutral enough to let the pink and mauve pieces really shine.

Scalloped Desk

The scalloped trim on this desk is such a sweet detail that keeps it from feeling too basic or dorm-standard. It’s the kind of piece that could actually transition into a bedroom later in life too.

Pink Pencil Holder

It’s the little details that really make a room feel special. This matching pink pencil holder and pink bow mug (below) are so special for a dorm room.

Pink Bow Mug

I remember in college, I had one single mug that I used every single day. This cute mug is perfect to have out every day, while matching the rest of the room!

Pink and White Table Lamp

This pleated gingham shade is such a charming, girly touch on the desk. It’s a small pop of pattern that keeps the space interesting.

Plants in Pink Pots

I always add a plant or two to bring some life and color into a room like this. They keep the space from feeling too flat.

Woven Dog Decor

This little rattan dog is just pure whimsy, and I love it for that. It’s proof that a room doesn’t have to take itself too seriously to still feel put-together. It’s especially great if you’re missing a dog you left at home.

Pink Storage Pouf

This ottoman is easily one of my favorite pieces in the whole room. The mushroom shape and boucle texture make it feel cozy and a little playful at the same time.

Dorm Room Headboard

These white headboards have such a soft, romantic shape that completely transforms a dorm room and makes it feel like a space that’s truly yours. They give the room a slightly vintage, boutique-hotel feel without taking over the space.

Mauve Bedding

The subtle bow embroidery on these comforters is what caught my eye first, and the dusty mauve color is just so soft and flattering. They set the tone for the entire room’s color story.

Pink Heart Pillow

These little accent pillows add just the right amount of personality and softness to the bed. They’re the kind of detail that makes a room feel curated instead of thrown together. And let’s be honest, who isn’t tired during college?!

Reading Pillow

This white and pink floral reading pillow makes the uncomfortable dorm room beds way more comfortable.

Pink Locker Cabinet

This rolling locker nightstand is such a fun, functional statement piece between the two beds. It adds storage and a bit of color while still feeling a little playful and nostalgic.

Rattan Lamp

The woven shade on this lamp brings in a warm, textural element that balances out all the softness from the bedding. It’s a small piece, but it does a lot of work grounding the space.

Curtains

Simple, airy, and neutral, these curtains let the window be a focal point without competing with the bedding. I like that they soften the light without making the room feel dark.

Over the Door Mirror

This full-length mirror is such a fun, unexpected shape and I couldn’t resist the pink frame. It’s practical but also just a great little design moment on its own.

Stool

This simple stool is such a versatile little piece, whether it’s holding towels or being used as extra seating. I like that it keeps things functional without adding visual clutter.

Pink Towels

These towels tie right back into the floral pillow and keep the softer, romantic theme going even in the smaller details. They’re stacked so nicely they almost double as decor.

Pink Storage Bins

These bins keep everything organized while still fitting the color scheme, which I always appreciate. Function doesn’t have to mean sacrificing style.

Paint Color Matches

Choosing a paint color can be one of the most challenging aspects of designing a room. Here are four Benjamin Moore paint color options to give you an idea of how the room could look with different wall colors.

The Benjamin Moore paint color matches for these rooms are:

  • White
  • Orleans Violet
  • Brown Teepee
  • Sherwood Tan

Conclusion

I can’t get over how soft and cozy this room turned out. It demonstrates that you can design a shared space that feels personal for two people while also feeling cohesive and intentional. If you’re working on a dorm or shared bedroom of your own, I hope this gave you some ideas to run with.

I hope these mood boards helped inspire your decorating journey and that you found something that will work well in your home. Be sure to check out my other mood boards or submit a custom room design request form!
