This post is all about my modern farmhouse living room design.

Modern Farmhouse Living Room Design

This modern farmhouse living room is giving warm, cozy neutrals with a fireplace anchor moment — think soft taupe recliners, layered textures, and a rug that ties it all together perfectly.

Have you ever wondered what your home decor style is?

This living room idea centers around the modern farmhouse aesthetic, with soft neutrals and darker accents. The sofas and armchairs are all recliners which makes this room SO cozy and perfect for family movie nights.

I’ve linked everything you see in the design below so you can shop the look and bring it to life in your own home. The furniture and decor pieces are from Crate & Barrel, Ashley Furniture, and Wayfair, and I’ve also paired four Benjamin Moore paint colors that work beautifully with this room — scroll down to the bottom to see the design with each color on the walls!

Area Rug

This cream rug has a subtle geometric pattern that adds texture without competing with anything else in the room. It’s the perfect neutral base that ties every other piece together.

Fireplace

This white fireplace console is the true centerpiece of the room, with a realistic flame and a mantel on top for styling. It also doubles as the base for the mounted TV, which makes the whole wall feel so intentional.

Coffee Table

This coffee table has the prettiest light wood tone and comes with built-in drawers and a lower shelf for storage. I love that it’s both functional for hiding remotes and blankets and pretty enough to style with a few decorative pieces on top.

Table Lamp

This lamp has a dark base and a simple linen shade. I love a lamp that gives you softer lighting than the overheads for movie nights.

Black Vase

This textured vase sits on the floor near the fireplace and adds an earthy, sculptural element to the room. I love a floor vase for filling awkward empty corners.

Gallery Frames

This little cluster of black and white framed photos adds a personal, gallery-wall feel to the corner of the room. It fills the empty wall space without needing anything bold or colorful.

End Table

These matching end tables flank the sofa and have the same wood finish as the coffee table, which ties the whole seating area together. The open lower shelf is great for tucking away baskets or extra books.

White Bowl

This little decorative bowl is the perfect decor piece for the fireplace mantle, on top of the coffee table, or on the end tables.

Recliner Sofas

These leather reclining sofas are what make this room so family-friendly and perfect for relaxing. I love that they look like regular sofas but gives you that stretch-out comfort when you need it. I added the individual links as well as the link to buy them together to save!

Curtains

These floor-length cream curtains soften up the window and let in just the right amount of light.

Throw Pillows

These cozy throw pillows add just the right amount of pattern without overwhelming the neutral palette. They’re the kind of simple detail that makes the sofa feel intentional instead of an afterthought.

Throw Blanket

This knit throw is giving all the cozy vibes. It’s the first thing I’d reach for on a chilly night watching TV by the fire.

Reclining Armchair

These two cream wingback-style chairs sit together and offer extra seating. They balance out all that taupe with a lighter, brighter tone.

Paint Color Matches

Choosing a paint color can be one of the most challenging aspects of designing a room. Here are four Benjamin Moore paint color options to give you an idea of how the room could look with different wall colors.

The Benjamin Moore paint color matches for these rooms are:

  • Baby’s Breath
  • Collingwood
  • Adobe Beige
  • Notre Dame

These paint colors are part of my Modern Farmhouse Whole House Color Palette.

Conclusion

This one might just be my favorite living room I’ve put together yet — there’s something about all those warm neutrals and cozy textures that just makes me want to curl up right in that space.

I hope it gives you some ideas if you’re working on your own living room makeover, especially if you’re trying to figure out how to make a fireplace and TV combo feel intentional instead of an afterthought.
