Tan and Charcoal Equestrian Master Bedroom Design

This post is all about my primary bedroom design.

This primary bedroom idea is perfect for anyone who loves a rustic, collected look. A wooden bench, a wood-framed mirror, and a speckled rug bring in natural texture. The horse sketch wall art is my favorite part!

Shop the Look Room Design

This slim brass floor lamp next to the chair adds just the right amount of light for that corner without taking up much visual space. It also echoes the table lamps so the metals feel consistent throughout the room.

I added this bench at the foot of the bed mostly for styling, but I also think it’s so practical for tossing throws or laying out clothes. It brings in a warmer wood tone that plays off the mirror frame nicely.

These plaid shams are what really bring in that cozy, cabin-adjacent vibe. They pair so well with the floral shams.

I couldn’t resist adding these floral shams for a little extra pattern play. They soften up all that plaid and give the bed a collected, not-too-matchy look.

This lumbar pillow is such a small piece, but it makes such a big impact against the neutral bedding.

This oversized fur throw is my favorite layer on the whole bed. It’s so soft and adds that little bit of glam.

I clustered a few different vases together on each nightstand and on the dresser because I think grouping varying heights and textures always looks more interesting than one lonely vase.

I went with black nightstands on either side of the bed to create some nice symmetry and contrast against all the warm tones.

These table lamps match perfectly with the floor lamp in the corner of the room!

These contrast nicely with the lighter neutral pottery collection.

This rug was such a fun find because the ombre speckled pattern adds so much texture without introducing a whole new color. It really grounds the whole room and ties all the other elements together.

I brought in this cream swivel chair as a cozy little reading nook in the corner.

I kept the curtains soft and simple so they wouldn’t compete with everything else going on in the room.

I love draping throws like this instead of folding them, sometimes it just feels more relaxed.

This framed horse sketch is what inspired the whole direction of the room for me. It’s simple and a little moody, and it sets that quiet equestrian tone before you even look at anything else.

This bed anchors the whole room with its soft, rounded wingback shape in a clean ivory tone. It gives the space a little bit of that traditional, tailored feel.

This neutral bedding sets the foundation for the bolder patterns on the pillows.

This dresser adds a ton of storage and is the perfect spot for some cute decor.

Conclusion

I had so much fun putting this room together. The horse sketch might be my favorite part of the whole design. There’s just something about mixing all those cozy layers with a little bit of black furniture that makes a bedroom feel so put together.
