Warm Chocolate Brown Home Office Design
This post is all about my home office design.

I wanted to create that built-in look with this home office design. It has plenty of shelving space and a cozy settee to relax in when you’re taking a break from working!
Have you ever wondered what your home decor style is?
I’ve linked everything you see in the design below so you can shop the look and bring it to life in your own home. The furniture and decor pieces are from Pottery Barn, and I’ve also paired four Benjamin Moore paint colors that work beautifully with this room — scroll down to the bottom to see the design with each color on the walls!

Area Rug
This patterned rug in warm neutral tones beautifully grounds the entire seating and desk area. It has just enough pattern to add interest without fighting with anything else going on in the room.
Desk Chair
This chair might be my favorite piece, the tufted leather and wood arms make it feel more like a statement piece than a desk chair. It is the kind of chair that makes you actually want to sit down and work.
Vase Set
The mix of cream ceramic vases and bowls scattered across the shelves brings in soft curves and a curated feel. I like layering a few different shapes and sizes so the shelves never look too matchy.
Brown Pillow
This textured brown pillow on the settee adds another layer of warmth and pattern in a small dose. It is a simple detail, but it ties the seating area in with the rest of the room.
Black Knot Table Decor
These sculptural black knot pieces add a little unexpected contrast against all the warm wood and cream tones. They are such an easy way to make open shelving feel curated instead of random.
Picture Frame
These thin gold frames are so versatile and let you personalize the space. Black-and-white photos in the frames keep the wall feeling calm and cohesive against all the warm wood tones.
Table Lamp
This little brass lamp adds a warm metallic look on the desk. I like a task lamp that looks this good, because it means you never have to choose between function and style.
Floral Stems
These faux branches fill the corner of the room and add height without feeling heavy.
Throw Blanket
This chunky faux-fur throw draped over the settee is pure coziness. I could not resist adding it, it is the kind of texture that makes you want to curl up the second you walk in the room.
Decorative Books
I always say books are the most underrated decor item, they fill space and look intentional at the same time.
Decorative Clock
This little arched clock adds both function and a soft architectural shape to the shelving. I love a decor piece that actually does something, it is not just sitting there looking pretty.
Woven Basket
These textured woven baskets tucked into the shelves provide hidden storage while adding a ton of texture. They are one of my favorite styling tricks because they break up all the hard lines of books and shelving.
Light Fixture
This chandelier, with its warm brass finish and cream shades, brings soft ambient light from above.
Bookcase
These tall matching bookshelves flank the desk and give the whole wall so much presence. I love how they create a built-in look without an actual renovation, and they offer endless room to style books and decor.
Office Desk
This desk is simple enough to let the chair and art be the stars, but sturdy enough to hold its own in the room.
Settee
This settee is such a pretty spot to sit and read away from the desk. It feels a little vintage and it just fits right into this warm, collected room.
Paint Color Matches
Choosing a paint color can be one of the most challenging aspects of designing a room. Here are four Benjamin Moore paint color options to give you an idea of how the room could look with different wall colors.
The Benjamin Moore paint color matches for these rooms are:
- Sheep’s Wool
- Bare Essence
- Fox Hollow Brown
- Bittersweet Chocolate
